2011 In Movies

Love the end of the year! The best of lists come out!

All content from nextmovie.com

The results of our comprehensive battery of year end polls are in and with nearly a million votes cast (!) the message couldn't be more clear, as "Harry Potter" and "The Hunger Games" battled it out with "Twilight" and "Thor" for fan supremacy in nearly every category.

How lopsided were the final results? Well, in the voting for Best Movie of 2011, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2" edged out "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" by a margin of 51.55% to 47.99%, with the other four candidates — "Bridesmaids," "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," "The Help" and "The Muppets" — combining for only .46% of the vote.

This just in: People really love "Harry Potter" and "Twilight."

Of course, the heated rivalry between fans of "Harry Potter" and "Twilight" has been raging for years, but with "Harry Potter" coming to an end this year and "Twilight" entering its own twilight, it appears fans have already picked proxies, with the "Harry Potter" contingent throwing its support behind "The Hunger Games" and the "Twilight" crowd backing "Thor," thanks no doubt in large part to the fact that Kristen Stewart is about to star in the new "Snow White" franchise opposite "Thor" hunk Chris Hemsworth.

You want evidence? Check this out: In the race for the Movie Most Looked Forward To in 2012, "The Hunger Games" beat "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2" 51% to 45%, with "The Avengers," "The Dark Knight," "The Amazing Spider-Man" and "The Hobbit" -- generally considered to be four of the biggest releases of the upcoming year -- combining for just 4% of the vote.

And the fight between Twihards and non-Twihards spilled out into other categories as well. Ron and Hermione, for instance, won Best On Screen Couple over Edward and Bella by the razor thin margin of 49.8% to 49.4%, with the rest of the field earning .6% combined. Meanwhile, "Thor"'s Tom Hiddleston pummeled Lord Voldemort Ralph Fiennes in the Best Villain category, 71% to 22%, while Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner crushed the Hottest Dude category, earning totals of 52% and 43% respectively to lap the field.

More proof? "Water For Elephants" —which stars Pattinson, of course — and "Breaking Dawn - Part 1" earned 55% and 38% respectively in the Movie the Ladies Loved category, while "Thor" obliterated the competition in the Best Action Movie arena with a whopping 82% of the vote; the nearest competitor, "X-Men: First Class," earned just 4%. "Thor" star Chris Hemsworth also finished near the top in the Biggest Breakout Star category, just being edged out by Michael Fassbender, 44% to 43%, but Stewart avenged her "Snow White and the Huntsman" co-star by beating Fassbender in the Best Nude Scene category, 59% to 39%.

In non-"Twilight" categories, "Bridesmaids" edged out "The Hangover Part II" for Best Comedy (26% to 25%), "Jack and Jill" took the title of Worst Movie (27% to "Green Lantern's" 21%) and Mila Kunis ("Friends with Benefits") defeated Olivia Wilde ("The Change-Up," "Cowboys & Aliens") for Hottest babe by the score of 49% to 43%. The Latest on the "Split" of Katy and Russell

I hope they work out! They're so sweet!!

Katy Perry
and Russell Brand have not decided to end their marriage ... this according to multiple sources directly connected to the couple.

We are told, however, that they are having problems, but our sources say it has nothing to do with reports of a big, blowout argument ... because we're told no such argument ever occurred.

Russell was spotted out in London today ... again without his wedding ring. He wasn't wearing it yesterday either.

As for Katy not wearing her ring, we're told it's no big deal. As one source notes, she doesn't wear the ring when she performs ... and it has nothing to do with Russell or her marriage.

One of our sources says it's clear Katy and Russell are "dealing with something," but divorce court is not the end game ... at least not yet.

Kanye's New DJ Name

In the latest news of dumb name changes (see Ron Artest), Kanye West has decided to go the World Peace route too.

During a Twitter rant, Kanye tweeted he was in a mood to DJ on New Year's Eve. However, if he's get booked, there's one stipulation:

This is kinda weird. But it's Kanye, so I guess whatever. I'd still kill to see the show either way

According to perezhilton.com

You have to call him Yeezy World Peace.

Yeezy tweeted the following requirements:

My New Years DJ name is gone be YEEZY WORLD PEACE! If you book me you have to put YEEZY WORLD PEACE on the E-vite. Or I aint spinning.

Ima need a stealth bomber and 2 bottled waters #YEEZYWORLDPEACE'SRIDER

While the a billion dollar fighter jet may not happen, his name change and bottled waters should be manageable.

Yeezy has been in London working on his album and clothing line. He DJ'd on Xmas in London and even included beats from his upcoming solo project.

Kanye also has the G.O.O.D. Music compilation coming soon with artists like Big Sean and John Legend.

Rihanna Is Loving It

Ohhh girl. I feel ya!

According to thesun.com

Rihanna was “lovin’ it” at McDonald’s earlier this week in London.

After performing for 20,000 fans at London’s O2 arena, Rihanna nipped into a Charing Cross, London McDonald’s for a bite to eat.

Britain’s The Sun newspaper had photographic proof of the star ordering her meal at the counter on Tuesday — a pic taken by a fan who was also in line at the popular burger chain.

And, according to the restaurant chain patron, no one else figured out that the gorgeous gal in line was the “We Found Love” singer.

“I was the only one who realized it was her. She took her food, paid and slipped away — no one batted an eyelid,” the patron, who was not identified, told the paper.

This isn’t the first time Rihanna has hit the streets of London like an ordinary person. In October, she was spotted taking the subway to one of her concerts.

Apple's New Super Battery

This seems like a hella complicated battery, but hopefully we'll be seeing it sooner than later. This is pretty cool!

According to huffingtonpost.com

Apple is planning to make devices powered by hydrogen fuel cells, according to patent applications published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

The plans could create computers and phones with weeks-long battery power. It would also make the devices lighter and less bulky.

According to the Telegraph, hydrogen fuel cells work by converting hydrogen and oxygen into water and electrical energy. This technology is already being explored for cars and the military.

"Our country's continuing reliance on fossil fuels has forced our government to maintain complicated political and military relationships with unstable governments in the Middle East, and has also exposed our coastlines and our citizens to the associated hazards of offshore drilling," reads the patent application. "These problems have led to an increasing awareness and desire on the part of consumers to promote and use renewable energy sources."

This won't come as much of a surprise to those who follow Apple closely. The company has filed several other patent applications for similar technology, as reported by Apple Insider in October.

Check out a diagram of the system, courtesy of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

10 Hangover Tips!

Hangovers are the body’s way to warn us when we drink too much. We feel nauseous, sweat and can experience “cotton mouth.” When alcohol is consumed, it enters the bloodstream and causes the pituitary gland in the brain to block the creation of hormones. Without the chemical signal, the kidneys send water directly to the bladder instead of reabsorbing it into the body. In order to make up for the loss of water to all the tissues and organs of the body, water is re-distributed from the brain…this is one cause of that horrible headache in the morning. At the same time, the liver processes alcohol by breaking it down into sugars. But this effort takes glycogen, a key chemical vital for energy.

So what can you do to make up for the imbalance caused by drinking too much alcohol?

1. Water, water and more water. Avoid coffee, tea and sodas that will dehydrate you further.

2. Take an electrolyte supplement such as a potassium – magnesium tablet.

3. Drink an electrolyte sports drink to replenish the salt and sugar lost when your body processes alcohol.

4. Take a multivitamin and with special attention to increased doses of C and B complex vitamins.

5. Eat some eggs. They contain cysteine which breaks down the hangover-causing toxins.

6. Take N-acetyl-cysteine, an amino acid, for the same reason.

7. Take aspirin that is free of caffeine or acetaminophen.

8. Try plant extracts like prickly pear cactus supplements before drinking to prevent hangovers.

9. Allow time to help you recover. Your body needs to process alcohol intake as it was designed to. So, suck it up and wait.

10. Abstinence. Need we say more?

Katy Perry Hosts SNL

Lamar Odom's Trade

From accesshollywood.com

Los Angeles Laker Lamar Odom has been traded to the Dallas Mavericks, and although wife Khloe Kardashian is a tried and true LA native, she’s taking the relocation news in stride.

“‘For I know the plans I have for u,’ declares the LORD,’” Khloe Tweeted on Saturday evening, quoting an inspirational Bible verse, shortly before the trade was announced. “’Plans to prosper u and not to harm u, plans to give u hope and a future.’Jeremiah”

“I am blessed and happy anywhere as long as I am with my family! God is great!!” she added in another Tweet. “Blessed beyond words! I love ALL of my dolls!”

The 27-year-old reality star also got a laugh out of rumors claiming she was somehow the reason behind the surprising trade.

“I am curious as to how I am the cause for any trade? LOL,” she wrote. “Some people just say anything behind their computer screens.”

“I am going back to being excited about life! LOL,” she added.

While the majority of Khloe’s musings were cheery, she did admit the news left her surprised.

“I am sure I will love it but I am a tad thrown off,” she wrote.

Sister Kim Kardashian also chimed in, giving her sister a warm Texas cheer.

“Yeeeeehhhhhhhaaaaaawwwww!!!!!!” Kim Tweeted on Sunday. “Can’t wait for the new memories KhloeKardashian & RealLamarOdom I love you guys! #Fam4Life”

No word yet on whether the couple’s E! reality show, “Khloe and Lamar,” will follow the pair to Dallas.

Charlie Sheen Tweets Phone Digits

From buzzfeed.com

When Charlie Sheen and "Two and a Half Men" had their very public break-up earlier this year, his co-star of 8 years, Jon Cryer, casually mentioned that he didn't have Charlie's phone number.

Now, that number has been shared with Sheen's 5 million Twitter followers. Whoops!

On Dec. 8, Sheen tweeted his number, along with the note, "Call me, bro." We assume he intended to send the number in a direct message. (Hey, at least it wasn't a photo of himself in his underwear. We'd rather not.)

The tweet was deleted shortly after -- but there was plenty of time for eager followers to jot down the digits. We don't even want to know how many "Winning!" voicemails Charlie got today.

Of course, Sheen currently has bigger things to worry about. He recently shelled out $11,000 (pocket change, for him) to bail his ex-wife, Brooke Mueller -- the mother of his twin sons -- out of prison in Aspen after a cocaine bust and ass

Rick Perry's Commercial Music By Gay Composer

BAM. That's what you get, Mr. Perry.

If you've seen the video posted last week from Rick Perry, and the outrage it caused, you'll be interested to read this turn of events.

According to perezhilton.com

Ha Ha! You just got Rick-Rolled, Rick Perry!

By now, we're sure you've seen one of YouTube's most disliked videos, RiDICK Perry's "Strong" ad, in which the GOP nominee says, "There's something wrong in this country when gays can serve openly in the military but our kids can't openly celebrate Christmas or pray in school."

Well, it turns out, the music used in the video was inspired by GAY composer Aaron Copland.

LOLz! So, gays are good enough to create beautiful music, but not good enough to serve openly in the military.

Oh, we see.

Ready to take down the ad, Rick? Your bad idea just turned into worst idea ever.

Lady Gaga White Christmas

Accesshollywood.com

Lady Gaga was in the Christmas spirit at Z100’s annual Jingle Ball concert, but her version of “White Christmas” would have made Bing Crosby blush.

Gaga performed a slightly naughty rendition of the holiday classic Friday night as part of her mini-concert at the radio station’s event at Madison Square Garden. Gaga — sporting tight studded leather pants, matching top and a bare midriff — gyrated on a set that included antlers, Christmas trees and holiday lights as she performed “White Christmas.”

“So I recently added a couple of lyrics to this song because I think it’s too short. It’s like when you really start to enjoy it it stops. It’s like a really bad orgasm. Merry Christmas New York!” she shouted. Later, she made a suggestive pose as she gave a come hither coo to Santa.

But her performance wasn’t all saucy. She was nostalgic and appreciative as she thanked the radio station for allowing her to be the headliner of this year’s show, which included performances from Kelly Clarkson, Demi Lovato, LMFAO, Pitbull, David Guetta, Foster the People, Hot Chelle Rae and more.

Gaga said her first concert as a young girl growing up in New York City was the Z100 Jingle Ball.

“I worked so hard and when I was 11 … my mom got me tickets to Jingle Bell Ball,” she said.

Gaga opened the Jingle Ball concert three years ago, she said: “I’ll never forget there were a whole lot of superstars and no one knew who the hell I was. … Some people thought I was going to be a one-hit wonder.”

The singer, recently nominated for three Grammys, proved to be otherwise, and sang a few of her best-known songs, including “Telephone,” '‘Just Dance” and “Edge of Glory.”

She opened her performance by singing between several Christmas trees; later, she performed on a keytar shaped like a Christmas tree, and she ended the night dressed in a hospital gown, re-enacting the theme of her latest video, “Marry the Night.”

A portion of the evening’s proceeds will go to “STOMP Out Bullying,” a program designed to reduce and prevent bullying, a cause close to Gaga’s heart. Earlier this week, she went to the White House to meet with officials about the matter.

“It’s important to keep everybody safe in school,” Gaga told the audience before launching into her inspirational anthem “Born This Way.”

She also told her fans that she was happy to be in New York City during the holidays.

“This city gave birth to me and I will always come home,” she said.
